Steps for OWTS Plan Check Review
- OWTS plan checks are initiated by directly emailing the Environmental Health Administrator.
- The Environmental Health Administrator will email an OWTS plan check checklist listing all required documents for submittal.
- A technical review will be conducted once all documents have been submitted and review fees have been paid.
- If corrections are issued, then a review letter will be sent to the applicant via email
- If there are no corrections, then the OWTS plans will be routed to applicable departments for review (Geology, Public Works, LA County Waterworks District 29, Coastal Engineering, Environmental Health, Planning)
- Once all departments have stamped the OWTS plans, Environmental Health will notify the applicant via email.
- Within one year of approval, a City-Registered OWTS Installer can schedule an appointment via the Building Permit Request Portal to pull the septic permit.
- An OWTS operating permit must be obtained prior to final inspection.
